A WOMAN found with serious facial injuries in a North Yorkshire village is still in hospital.

The injured woman, named locally as Margaret Barlow, was found in a house at Ingleby Arncliffe, near Northallerton on Tuesday, June 16.

It is thought her 11-year-old son found her lying at the bottom of the stairs of the family home as he came home from Ingleby Arncliffe Junior School.

The Great North Air Ambulance took her to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, where she is believed to be a midwife.

Police officers are still waiting to talk to the woman who is in a comfortable and stable condition in hospital.

North Yorkshire Police are not looking for anyone in connection with the incident. They are unsure as to whether it is suspicious until they speak to Mrs Barlow.

Mrs Barlow recently separated from her husband and she has an older daughter at Stokesley School.
