A GROUP of respected businessmen have revealed new sides of themselves after posing nude for a charity calendar.

A retired GP, a university chairman and a magistrate are among the members of Darlington Rotary Club who have become unlikely pin-ups in the calendar in aid of local good causes.

The calendar has been photographed in the cheeky style of the original Rylstone Women’s Institute Calendar Girls, who stripped to raise money for Leukaemia Research in 2000.

Mtprint boss Mike Challands, who took the photographs and himself appears in the calendar, said the group has been inundated with requests for copies.

Club member Alan Charlton said the calendar was a light-hearted way to raise money for a good cause.

He said: “A group of the members came up with the idea – obviously they had been inspired by others who have done similar calendars over the past few years and thought there were enough members of the Rotary Club who would be willing to contribute themselves.

“Some of them took a little persuading, but some were quite keen on volunteering their bodies for the calendar.”

The calendar follows the Rotary year – from July 2009 to June 2010 – and is available to buy through a coupon printed below.

The Darlington Calendar Boys are: dentist Andrew Wilson; retired accountant Chris Smithson; solicitor Ken Wiper; recruitment consultant and magistrate David King; solicitor Chris Wiper; outgoing Rotary president Stuart Clark, who owns Darlington Bedding Centre; Steve Rose, the former chief executive of Darlington Partnership; Paul Robinson; Teesside University chairman Sandy Anderson; retired GP Roger James; former Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College principal David Heaton; printing company managing director Mike Challands; and businessman Andy Fenner.
