MORE than 450 people have taken advantage of a month of free water sports.
Many of the sessions for Active Durham’s Water Wonders month were held at Freeman’s Quay leisure centre, in Durham.
Swimming development officer Laura Welford said: "Water Wonders has been great. The free adult water confidence sessions and aqua fit have been particularly popular and it’s been lovely to see so many new people learning to enjoy water activities.
"Life saving, mini water polo and the free river rowing sessions have also attracted a lot of interest."
Water Wonders was part of a year-long Durham County Council initiative to provide free sport and exercise to residents of Durham City.
During July, free tennis and golf will be available.
