A NEW Sure Start centre has been officially opened.
Roberta Blackman-Woods MP cut the ribbon during a fun day to mark the opening of the Sure Start Centre in Front Street, Kelloe, the fifth Sure Start centre in the Durham City area.
Dr Blackman-Woods said: "Other areas in Durham such as Gilesgate and Ushaw Moor have benefited from Labour’s investment in Children’s Centres, and it is really good news that Kelloe will now follow suit.
"Sure Start Centres provide a whole range of services including child care, health services, early years education and family support.
"I was delighted that such a large number of parents, including dads, came to the opening day to support this important new local facility.
"I believe the establishment of Sure Start centres is one of Labour’s greatest achievements and I know from parents across Durham that they are widely supported."
