A STRUGGLING business is taking a ‘siesta’ in its opening hours in an effort to combat the economic gloom.
Bedale Copy Shop, in Bedale, North Yorkshire, which has already been forced to make one member of staff redundant, will now be closed between 11am and 3pm on weekdays.
The shop, which previously kept regular office hours, will be closed completely at weekends and bank holidays.
Owner John Dunwell said the summer was traditionally a quiet time for the shop, in Emgate, which offers a wide range of print services, to both trade and public.
He said: "As a consequence of the continuing difficult economic climate, together with a seasonal downturn in trade, we are having to make certain economies.
"These include reducing the number of hours our premises are open to casual callers.
"We have no desire to inconvenience our loyal and valued customers so if these revised hours of opening are not convenient, please contact us for a personal appointment, which will gladly be offered."
Mr Dunwell thanked customers for their loyal support, which he said was "truly valued".
