Hutton Magna hosted an Indian Cookery demonstration at the village hall last Friday.
With some audience participation and assistance, we were treated to an impressive and highly informative 2 hour presentation by Ms Sumati Bala.
Dishes included a Lamb curry (Lamb on the bone is much better), a Prawn Sambal, a Tarka Dahl made with lentils, spicy cauliflower and new potatoes, 2 Raita side dishes and Indian bread.
We were also shown how to cook rice using the "rule of thumb" method - put dry rice in a pan, measure the depth with your thumb and add water to the same depth.
Everybody present thoroughly enjoyed eating the results and agreed the taste was far superior to anything out of a jar or packet.
Sumati can be contacted on 07838 149 349.
