HUNDREDS of pet owners turned up for Dogs Trust Darlington’s annual fun day in the town’s South Park yesterday.
There were a range of competitions, including waggiest tail, best trick and prettiest dog.
A parade of the Sadberge rehoming centre’s dogs also took place to help them find homes.
Darlington mayor Councillor Jim Ruck presented the prize to best in show, Inca, a German Shepherd cross collie, with owner Gill Crawford.
There was also microchipping, other games for the dogs and entertainment for children.
Sarah Shreeve, from the centre, said: “It has been a fantastic day and the turnout has been brilliant.”
The annual event has been held at the centre, in Sadberge, since it opened 15 years ago. Organisers felt South Park gave them more space and better parking.
Centre manager Sue Embleton said: “It has been a lovely day. The turnout has been as good as normal. We are very happy with hosting it in South Park.”
