WAITING times for minor repairs to council houses in East Durham have been cut in half.
East Durham Homes (EDH) has reduced its target for responding to requests for non-urgent repairs from 28 days to 15 days.
Non-urgent programmed repairs, meanwhile, will now be dealt with within 30 days rather than the previous limit of 60 days.
Jack James, head of neighbourhood services (repairs and technical), said: "The introduction of mobile technology to help us manage appointments has enabled us to reduce the time between a resident requesting a repair and our staff being able to visit their home.
"This obviously means a better service for our tenants with less time to wait for repairs to be carried out.
"We are now looking forward to improving our repairs service even further when our new contractor Morrison Facility Services starts work at the beginning of next month."
