ZETLAND Primary School is celebrating its 150th anniversary this week with a step back to Victorian times and tons of teddies.
Headteacher Dianne Gage is presenting each of the school's 205 pupils with a commemorative Zetland Teddy Bear as part of three days of themed activities for Redcar's oldest school.
She said: "Our 150th birthday is an excellent opportunity to bring the community and school together to celebrate being the oldest school in Redcar. I'd like to come back for the 200th."
With all pupils and staff encouraged to wear Victorian costumes throughout the three days, the entertainment begins with teacher Paul Richardson becoming the master of ceremonies for an Old Time Music Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
Redcar historian Vera Robinson MBE, now 94, was also in attendance when an exhibition of old photographs and artwork opens in the school hall.
Redcar and Cleveland Council's cabinet member for children's services and education Councillor Ian Jeffrey said: "What an excellent way to celebrate this historic landmark for a school that has delivered for our young people across three centuries. Congratulations to all at the school."
