TWO motorcyclists were taken to hospital - one by air ambulance - after they were involved in a head-on smash.
The two bikers collided on the A171 Whitby to Guisborough road, near the Egton turn-off, at about 4.50pm today.
Both were taken to the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where their injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening.
Police sealed off the section of road and set up local diversions as they examined the scene.
Any witnesses who saw the accident or the way the bikes were being ridden is asked to contact the police on 0845 6060 247.
