ONE of Claudia Lawrence's best friends spoke out tonight in support of the chef who went missing three months ago.
Reports about her private life alleged the 35-year-old from York could have had affairs with up to 40 married men, some at the same time.
But her friend Suzy Cooper said those claims were wholly inaccurate.
She said: "Claudia is a single, attractive, and independent young woman.
"She is happy, funny, extremely caring, and would never wish harm on anyone.
"She may have had a couple of affairs in her 35 years but this should not detract from the kind, loyal, and loving person she is.
"She is not interested in wealth and she certainly does not target married men.
"The allegations that she has had 30 to 40 affairs with married men is wholly inaccurate."
She spoke out on behalf of Miss Lawrence because her friend was unable to defend herself.
North Yorkshire Police said the disappearance was being treated as a potential murder and the charity Crimestoppers offered a £10,000 reward for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Ms Cooper, who has been friends with the missing York University chef for two-and-a-half years, added: "It should not be forgotten that Claudia has neither committed a crime, nor has she invited this speculation about her life.
"It is my absolute belief that she has been taken by someone - it is therefore she who is the victim of a crime and she does not deserve to have her character judged and disrespected in this way."
