POLICE working in the West Dyke area of Redcar have a new base to work from.
The local neighbourhood policing team has taken up residence in Rye Hills School so they can work in the heart of the community.
PC Kelly Jarvis and PCSO Sharon White now have a purpose built office on the campus which they can use as a base from which to work from.
Inspector Andrew Bright said: "The school has been very supportive in the development of this project which I strongly believe will enhance the levels of police coverage in West Dyke ward.
"Being located within a large school such as Rye Hills is an exciting initiative and will be a positive step forward in our engagement with the young people of the area."
Hamish Joyce, headteacher at the school added: "We are really pleased with this development, which enables us to provide a great service to the local community.
"We have already seen the benefits that working with the Neighbourhood Policing Team can bring and we are looking forward to working closely with them in the future."
