MORE than 120 people took part in a piratethemed charity fun run.
Dozens of children and adults, dressed in pirate costumes, walked and ran 5km along the banks of the River Wear, in Durham City, yesterday morning for the first Durham Pirate Fun Run.
The event was organised to raise money for the Grace House North-East Children’s Hospice appeal. It was hosted by Durham City Rugby Club, where the race began.
Among the participants was Horrible Histories author Terry Deary, who signed books before and after completing the route.
Mayor of Durham Councillor Dennis Southwell helped hand out medals to runners as they finished.
