SEBASTIAN Vettel proved to Jenson Button this season's Formula One world title fight will not be a walk in the park after a storming British Grand Prix victory.
After totally dominating the year with six wins from the opening seven races, including the last four in a row, Button finished a distant sixth to Red Bull Racing star Vettel.
Button's championship lead is now 23 points ahead of Brawn GP team-mate Rubens Barrichello who managed third behind Mark Webber as Red Bull scored their second one-two of the year, with Vettel now 25 points down.
Vettel ceded his lead briefly to Webber after making his second and final stop on lap 45 but, when his team-mate came in two laps later, the lead was his again, and the German set about reeling off the final 13 laps to victory.
Trulli's stop on lap 46 gave Button the chance to take seventh place from the Toyota, the Briton's long middle stint on hard tyres allowing him the chance to run for much longer than his rivals.
Button finally started heading in the right direction after his second stop on lap 50, the 29-year-old's Ross Brawn-inspired strategy allowing him to take places from Trulli and Raikkonen as he moved into sixth place with ten laps to go.
And better was on the cards for Button in the closing stages as he received a radio message with eight laps to go informing him that Massa and Rosberg, running fourth and fifth respectively, were over a second slower than the Brawn as they struggled on hard rubber.
The Englishman had the gap to Rosberg down to under three seconds with six laps to go as Button set up a grandstand finish for the British fans.
Up at the front, however, there was no doubting who was going to win this race. Vettel swept across the line to take the win after 60 hugely impressive laps, the German leading home Webber by 15.1 seconds as Red Bull claimed their second one-two finish of the season after first achieving the feat at the Chinese Grand Prix in April.
Barrichello took third for Brawn, Massa claimed an impressive fifth while Rosberg held off the late charge of Button, who took sixth place and a reduced lead in the championship of 23 points over Barrichello. The Briton's gap to Vettel is 25 points heading into the second half of the season.
Trulli took seventh ahead of Raikkonen, while Hamilton's eventful day ended with 16th place at the chequered flag.
