A NEW generation of footballing talent will be on display in the region this weekend.
The annual Four Nations tournament, featuring under-16 teams representing Clubs for Young People from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, kicks off on Saturday, June 20.
England will take on Scotland in the opening fixture, at Durham City’s Arnott Stadium from 1pm. At 3pm, Northern Ireland face Wales.
Further matches will be held in Durham on Sunday, June 21, and Newcastle on Monday, June 22.
There will be a £1 admission charge for all games.
The Clubs for Young People - formerly Boys’ Clubs - have produced stars such as Alan Shearer, Steve Bruce and Peter Beardsley.
England manager Alan Watson said: "This will be a tremendous experience for these young players, who will be following in some very famous footsteps.
"It’s also an opportunity for football fans to see some live action during the close season and enjoy the games."
