TWO students scored an unexpected day off school this week, after winning a competition.
Katy Bramham and Anya Hockey, both 13, from Bedale, tried out a laser adventure game, after winning a competition.
Young people from primary schools around Bedale, as well as the town’s high school, were quizzed about the activities they wanted to see in Hambleton District Council’s ‘hyper holiday’ activity programme.
More than 1,000 forms were returned with ideas with and 40 winners selected, based on the ‘novelty’ of the activities suggested.
Leisure officers have added go-karting, archery, water games, biking, fashion camp, orienteering, mini Olympics, climbing, treasure hunt and raft building into the schedule of events.
All winners received a month’s leisure centre membership, which includes free access to all the council's leisure facilities and discounts to take part in holiday activities.
The full summer activity programme is available from the leisure centres.
It can also be downloaded from hambletonleisure.co.uk
