GROWING numbers of pupils for an east Cleveland school has resulted in plans to build three new classrooms.

Skelton Primary School will be expanded and reshaped to ensure it is able to cater for more and more pupils.

The work will include a centralised entrance for the school, the new classrooms, new parking facilities and three new mobile classrooms for the nursery.

The scheme went before Redcar and Cleveland Council's planning committee today.

After approving the plans, vice chairman of the committee, Councillor Peter Dunlop said: "It is very pleasing to hear there is increasing numbers of pupils for this school - it would appear to be doing the opposite of most other schools in the borough by expanding its numbers."
