KEEN cyclists descended on the Yorkshire Dales in force for some sponsored pedalling.
More than 250 riders took part in this year’s North Riding Dales Licensed Victualers Association Charity Bike Ride.
The 23rd annual event, sponsored by the Black Sheep Brewery, saw people from across the region ride 17 miles between Hawes and Leyburn.
Last year the event raised more than £20,000, which was split between 50 local charities.
Organiser Angus McCarthy, landlord of the Fountain Hotel, Hawes, said: "This year’s ride was a great success- we had more riders than ever and the rain managed to hold off for most of the day.
"Over the last 23 years, the LVA Charity Bike Ride has raised more than £200,000 for local charities, so we thank the participants for all their hard work both on the day and also for their tremendous fund-raising efforts."
Brewery managing director Paul Theakston added: "We have been a firm supporter of the ride for a number of years, recognising the real benefits it has brought to the community.
"This year we had a team of 20 riders take part in what was an exhilarating and exhausting day."
