FATHERS in Crook tucked into school dinners with their children yesterday during an early Fathers Day celebration.
Pupils at Stanley Crook Primary School invited their fathers, grandfathers, and male carers to join them for lunch and a tour of their classrooms.
Around 20 fathers attended, and enjoyed a mouth watering menu of mince pie, potatoes and peas, or pasta and garlic bread, followed by chocolate fudge cake, or fruit and yoghurt.
After lunch, they browsed the classrooms to view their children’s work on healthy eating.
Headteacher Shirley Oswald says the event was so successful, the school hopes it will become a regular fixture on their calendar.
"We ran a similar event to mark Mothers Day, but this was the first time we’d done it for Fathers Day," said Mrs Oswald.
"It was lovely to see so many people there, and the children really enjoyed it."
