A CRICKET club has been given £400 after a charity match which featured a team made up entirely of one family.

Barningham Cricket Club, near Barnard Castle, staged the match and sent out a side against the Lerigo family.

Bill Lerigo, the most senior member of the Lerigo family lived in Barningham for 24 years before moving to Richmond, North Yorkshire.

His son Stephen helped organise the match, which was followed by a fundraising race night.

In total £1,000 was raised by the two events. £600 was given to Macmillan Cancer Support with the rest being donated to the cricket club - which wants to buy a new electronic scoreboard.

Lerigos came from across the country to take part in the match, with team members ranging in age from 16 to 55.

The game was a keenly contested with Barningham winning by 21 runs.

Man of the match was Stephen Lerigo with 30 not out and two wickets.
