A SPECIAL memorial service will be held at Skipton on Swale on Sunday to commemorate the four Canadian squadrons based there during the Second World War.
Families of pilots who lost their lives will attend the service, many from Canada, along with RAF personnel, including Air Commodore W.G. Gambold DL.
The service, on the 65th anniversary of the end of the War, will include the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment and the fly past of a Spitfire, a Dakota and two motorised gliders from the air training group at Topcliffe.
An RAF Band Concert in Northallerton to raise funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund will be held after the service at Hambleton Forum.
The concert, which starts at 7.30pm, is open to the public. Tickets are priced at £12 (£10 concessions) and are available from Greensleeves, in Northallerton, or from the Forum.
