A MAJOR supermarket which caused traffic chaos in the building is to open in Ripon creating nearly 100 local jobs.
Booths new 18,000square foot supermarket is to open for trade on Thursday, June 25, on Marshall Way.
The store’s construction caused chaos for drivers as work on a link road to it meant car parking spaces were lost for a while.
It forms part of a major development of land near to Ripon market place.
The store will have a range of facilities including fresh fish and meat counters, an olive bar, wines and spirits and a hot food counter.
Local traders are also to provide goods for the shop with Booths to sell over 350 Yorkshire lines.
Atholl Robertson, store manager, said: "I’m really looking forward to the opening.
"The store has got some new and exciting additions and we are confident that customers will enjoy shopping with us."
Shoppers will also be able to visit Cafe 1847 to be located above the store which will replace the traditional Booths tea room.
It will sell Fairtrade organic and Rainforest Alliance certified coffee plus snacks sourced locally.
