A YOUNGSTER has cut a special birthday cake he designed to help mark the tenth anniversary of the World of James Herriot.
Sam Marchant, ten, cut the cake at the Thirsk-based attraction this week as part of a series of events to mark the anniversary.
The pupil at Sowerby Primary School, near to Thirsk, won a competition run by the World of James Herriot to design a birthday cake.
He visited the Kirkgate centre with his classmates to do the honours on Monday, June 15.
He was joined at the centre by Councillor Tony Hall, Hambleton District Council’s Cabinet member for prosperity.
The school party then enjoyed a 1940s war time party and a tour of the centre which was opened on June 14 1999 by TV’s James Herriot Christopher Timothy.
