POLICE are hunting three men following the rape of a 30-year-old woman in a North-East city centre.

A police spokesman said the victim walking home along Neville Street, in Newcastle, between midnight on Saturday and 1.30am on Sunday when she was approached by three men.

They asked her if she wanted to go for a drink and she walked away with them, but was raped shortly after.

Detectives from Newcastle CID are still trying to establish exactly when and where the attack took place.

They believe many people would have been in the area at the time, and have appealing for help to catch the attackers.

The first man is described as being around 6ft, with short brown hair and of medium build. He was wearing jeans, a long-sleeved shirt with black shoes and spoke with a local accent.

Another attacker was 5ft 7ins, with short black cropped hair, wearing blue jeans, blue shoes, a white shirt and was between 18 and 25.

The third was a skinhead, around 5ft 5ins, with a large build. He was wearing blue jeans, black shoes, a blue shirt and is believed to be between 18 and 25 and spoke with a Scottish accent.
