A FLEET of new incident support unit vehicles (ISUs) to deal with problems on one of the region’s busiest roads has been unveiled.
The Highways Agency has invested in eight vehicles to patrol the A19 from Dishforth, North Yorkshire, and the Tyne Tunnel, in North Tyneside.
The vehicles will help with the Highways Agency’s ongoing commitment to reduce congestion following incidents on the road by helping to clear up debris from accidents more quickly.
The vehicles will carry a range of equipment to help the teams to complete their work and keep traffic moving on the A19.
They can be used to set up emergency traffic management, help clear carriageways, remove incident debris, assess infrastructure damage and undertake infrastructure repairs.
The vehicles will replace the temporary ISU vehicles that have been in operation since March 31.
