RESIDENTS will get one last chance to voice their thoughts on the future of a children’s play area.
Spennymoor Town Council is considering whether to maintain or remove play facilities from The Dene.
When it was installed more than 20 years ago the facility was state-of-the-art but there is now just one item remaining.
The council asked residents of 200 homes in Deneside, Ox Close Crescent, Wood Vue, Mayfields and Tees Crescent that border the facility what action they want to be taken about the site.
Just 26 people responded, 14 favour keeping the park and 12 want it removed.
Coun Ian Harrington said: "It was a brilliant little play area and served the children in the houses, school and nursery nearby well.
"It represented a significant investment at the time and it is sad to see just one piece of equipment there now.
"The problem is it has attracted anti social behaviour and vandalism."
The council has agreed to carry out the consultation again but will urge residents to take part this time as it will be their final chance to influence the its decision.
