SCHOOL pupils have been educated about the role of a police helicopter after it paid them a flying visit.
Cleveland Police’s Air Operations Unit touched down in the grounds of Oak Tree Primary School, in Stockton, this morning.
Students from nearby Oxbridge Primary School also attended the school to hear a presentation about the daily work of the force’s helicopter.
Pupils also got the chance to dress in the police uniform and sit in the helicopter.
Stockton Police school liaison officer PC Alan Fish said: "It’s really important for the force to build relationships with young people in the local area as it develops their understanding of the police and what we do, as well as encouraging them to have the confidence to come forward in future if ever needed.
He added: "Having access to our own force Air Operations Unit is fantastic as it really captures attention.
The helicopter can touch down in the school playing fields and the kids love it as it’s something exciting and different.
The helicopter will be visiting schools across Teesside in the forthcoming months.
