Residents and visitors to Ferryhill are being asked to support the weekly Friday Market.
Market traders are continuing to offer their produce and goods, and new traders are hoping that Ferryhill will provide a permanent spot for them to trade.
Over the past 12 months the market has attracted and lost over 28 stalls selling a wide range of goods. Lack of support from local shoppers has made some traders look for alternative sites.
A spokesperson for Ferryhill Town Council said, “We are working very hard with market traders and trying to attract new traders to the town. We have had many new stalls come to the market, but they only stay a few weeks and then move on due to lack of support”.
For the market to remain successful it requires more support from residents and shoppers visiting the town. Despite these problems, Ferryhill is still one of the better markets in the area. With free parking in the town centre and the new public toilets recently opened, it is hoped more residents and visitors will support the market and secure its future.
