A TODDLER and his mother will walk two miles on Armed Forces Day this month in a bid to raise £1,000 for Help for Heroes.
Two-year-old Marcus Durkin and his mother, Emily, will walk from their home in Colburn, North Yorkshire, on Saturday, June 27, to the war memorial in Richmond.
Armed Forces Day is also the 26th birthday of Marcus’ father, Coporal Shaun Durkin, who serves with the First Yorkshire Regiment at Catterick Garrison.
Mrs Durkin said: “We wanted to do something special for Armed Forces Day, to show our respect for servicemen and women all over the world.
“We also want to pay tribute to those who have lost lives and loved ones.
“Marcus is a very strong walker so he should be fine, the only problem might be for me to keep up with him! We are hoping to raise £1,000, so all donations are welcome.”
