Got a bit of stick in the pub on Sunday, especially off my old mate Peter Barnes.
Mickey taking in Cockfield is one of the more popular village pastimes, and it was my turn to be on the receiving end!
“Hello Mr Dawson” people kept saying, with a smirk on their faces.
DAWSON? What are they on about? I thought.
Barnowl shouted over, “So much for fame son, the Northern Echo has a big poster in the paper shop window exclaiming, ‘Read Nigel Dawson’s Cockfield Blog’!”
After a hasty trip to the paper shop, it was confirmed, DAWSON!
Now in the great scheme of things, this was a minor irritation, but what did spring to mind was a piece of advice given to me by Peter Barron, (the Echo’s editor) when I first started these blogs.
“Always remember lad” he says, “one of the most important rules in journalism, make sure you GET THE NAME RIGHT!”
Personally, I think it’s retribution for Tupper calling the editor Mr Byron!!
