Today is our training day and we have permission to have a lie in until 09:00, believe me when I say we are glad of it. Me and my colleague head down to the Motor Transport department where we are to give our Snatch Land rover a full yearly service.
We had dropped all the vehicles off down there the night before. One of them was already on the ramps and just getting finished off. I dropped it down and parked it up, then I was thrown another set of keys.
Up onto the ramps it went and with the supervision of the MT staff, we started to conduct the service.
Anybody that knows me well, will know that I am not the most mechanically minded person in the world and I certainly had to use some guidance when dropping the oil and changing the filters etc. While I conducted this my colleague changed the air filters and greased up everywhere that required it. Approximately fifty minutes later we dropped the vehicle off the ramps and checked the torque on the wheels. My colleague was feeling well smug as we had done such a good and thorough job on it, well that was until he said lets test the spot light. I jumped inside and pressed the switch, the only problem was that our switch had been snapped off, this one was intact. I ran around to the front of the vehicle to check the registration, it wasn’t ours - my friends face dropped and I started running.
