CHILDREN from a North Yorkshire pre-school nursery have started receiving a weekly donation of fruit and vegetables to help introduce them to the importance of a healthy diet.
Youngsters from Bedale Under Fives are sent bags of goodies each week, by staff at Bluebell Organics, based in Forcett, near Richmond.
The bags contain child-friendly items such as apples, bananas, pears, grapes, tomatoes and cucumbers.
Normally worth £9.50, the donations are dramatically reducing the costs for the nursery.
Katrina Palmer, who runs Bluebell Organics, was thrilled to be able to assist the pre-school.
She said: "We are happy to help Bedale Under Fives in this way.
"There is a lot of good work happening at the moment to encourage children to eat healthy fruit for snacks instead of processed and sugary foods, which we think is extremely important to the future health of all children."
Located on the first floor of Bedale Hall, the pre-school provides a caring, homely environment for children from the age of two.
