RESIDENTS in Stockton are being urged to remain vigilant after bogus charity bags were delivered to homes Fundraisers for charity Daisy Chain said they have received numerous calls from people living in the town about the collection bags.
Community Fundraiser, Nathan Money, from the Charity Daisy Chain said: "We have received several calls from people across the area now who have received these bags from people claiming to act on our behalf.
"However, we do not do door-to-door collections at present and we have had no contact from these individuals, let alone received any proceeds."
PC Eddie Lincoln, Crime Prevention Officer for Stockton, added: "The people conducting these collections are doing so illegally and profiting at the expense of the charity. It is therefore essential that we find the people who are doing this."
The clear bags are being dropped to people’s homes with a slip of paper bearing the Daisy Chain logo.
Anyone who receives a bag or sees a vehicle in the Stockton area collecting these bags is asked to contact PC Lincoln on 01642-302226.
