VOLUNTEERS who have donated their own time and efforts to help others were celebrated at a special event in Teesdale.
Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (Utass), with the help of 2D, hosted a Celebration of Volunteers for people who run drop in sessions for young people.
Thirty volunteers were nominated to receive a certificate of recognition for the contribution they have made to the establishment, continuation and development of the Utass Drop In.
Youth workers were also thanked for going the extra mile and Robert Forthergill, 2Ds Children & Young Peoples Participation Worker, was presented with a commemorative mosaic.
Children had made the mosaicto thank him for all of his help and support.
Diane Spark, Project Manager at Utass said: "These people are genuine unsung heroes in our community.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to honour them. We appreciate that the volunteers and workers dont look for rewards but this was our opportunity to say "Thank You" to all those people who contribute their time, energy and skills for the benefit of others in their community."
Michele Armstrong CEO at 2D, said: "Without the goodwill of many people, much needed local services would be severely affected and limited in their scope. We all owe a great deal to volunteers. This evening highlighted the achievements of individual volunteers and some of the fantastic work they have done locally to help support services and facilities for young people."
