Middlesbrough music live was a jam packed event in the heart of Middlesbrough; with many bands, street events and comedy over the 4th of June till the 7th, with the main music event being on the 7th. Many bands such as the Zutons, Bombay Bicycle and Frank Turner rocked the event ran by Middlesbrough council and Ten Feet Tall- celebrating the 10th anniversary in style. Around ten stages were set up- with 100+ bands ranging from indie rockers to jazz and swing.
Second on the ‘Love Middlesbrough’ main stage was feel good summer sensations Will and the People. With their ‘splendid ska and reggae tinged pop hits’ the band definitely brighten up a murky Middlesbrough day. With influences including Sublime, Bob Marley, Cat Stevens, Muse, Crowded House, Talking Heads, Rage Against The Machine and Bob Dylan their upbeat sound came as a surprise to the excited crowd. However, playing such summery, upbeat tunes as ‘Weirdo’s’ and ‘Knocking’; they soon got the crowd buzzing with catchy lyrics and mind blowing tunes. Recently back from touring with Girls Aloud and The Hoosiers- the band have kicked off a summer of tours with style. Will and the People are definitely a band to look out for in the future- and are sure to rock the pop charts with their catchy pop hits.
