A SCHOOL in the North-East has closed after three of its students tested positive for swine flu.
The decision to close Teesside High School in Eaglescliffe, near Yarm, for a period of seven days, was taken after advice from the Health Protection Agency and NHS Stockton-on-Tees..
The students have already been offered antiviral medication and are recovering well at home.
Fifteen other students at the school are suspected of also having swine flu and their symptoms are being investigated.
Today the school, which has been disinfected, remained open to allow a those students taking GCSE and A levels to sit their exams.
However, a number of precautions were being taken to minimise any risk of further infection.
All students and staff at the school are being offered antiviral drugs (Tamiflu) as a precaution.
Teesside High School, an independent school with an outstanding academic record, will reopen on 15 June 2009.
A spokesman for NHS Stockton-on-Tees said: "The school is working closely with the HPA and the NHS to monitor the situation"
