EARLIER this week it was hotter than Spain, today Weardale was shivering in a snow storm.

Although weather men had forecast a change to colder conditions, no one could have foreseen the blanket of snow which covered the higher ground.

With rain forecast for later today, however, anyone hoping to use the Weardale ski slopes had better move fast.
