POLICE are appealing for information after two pensioners had their purses snatched in Bishop Auckland.
A 73-year-old lady was walking along Byron Avenue at around midday on Wednesday April 29 when she was targeted.
A man aged around 20 to 25-years-old rode past on a dark BMX style bicycle, grabbed her purse from her pocket and rode off in the direction of Chatsworth Avenue.
He is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall, slim, with short cropped brown hair and was wearing a light coloured cap and two tone jacket, possible Nike.
The following morning, at around 11am on Thursday April 30, a man approached a 90-year-old lady walking in Newgate Street. He reached into her bag and stole her purse before making off down Railway Street.
He is described as 20 to 25-year-old, about 5ft 8ins tall, slim with a pale complexion and dark receding hair.
Police say that although the incidents are similar they may not be connected.
Both victims were elderly and vulnerable and officers are anxious to trace the offenders.
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
