THE DURHAM Young Musicians will be marking their 40th anniversary with a piano recital at the weekend.
The concert will be held at St Cuthbert's Church, North Road , Durham at 2pm on Sunday.
Four younger members of the group - Bolin Dai, Miranda Stephenson, Ben Pulman and Mudara Senanayake - will play the piano at a concert.
To complement the younger players, Richard Alum, a final Year Music Student at Durham University, will complete the afternoon with short programme comprising pieces by JS Bach, Grieg, Chopin and Debussy.
The Society's main aim is to promote and encourage the performance of music by young musicians from Durham, and the surrounding area.
Over the years, many young musicians who have gone on to have successful careers in music nationally, and internationally, have been members and taken part in DYM events.
Among the most famous "old boys" is concert pianist William Fong.
Membership of DYM is open to everyone who has an interest in music, including teachers, pupils, parents, and anyone else who enjoys music.
For other information on DYM, the above concert or other forthcoming events, please contact the Secretary of Durham Young Musicians, Ian Rudd, via E mail on ihrudd@googlemail.com or telephone 0191 384 4002 The tickets for the concert are £3 (£ 2 for Concessions or members of DYM), and will be available at the door.
