Dozens of turkeys were left ‘flapping about everywhere’ after the heavy goods vehicle that they were being transported in overturned on a busy road.
Traffic was brought to a standstill for almost six hours on the A61, near Bouldersby, North Yorkshire, after the incident, which happened just before 6.50am yesterday.
A vet was brought in to humanely put down some of the birds that were injured in the crash, while those that were uninjured were rounded up.
The driver of the lorry was unharmed.
