COUNCIL tenants in East Durham are being invited to have their say on how money to improve their homes is spent.
East Durham Homes’ (EDH) Capital and Repairs Service Review Panel is offering residents the opportunity to comment on the organisation’s maintenance service and give their views on how council cash is invested.
The panel meets every six weeks at venues around the area and is usually chaired by an EDH tenant.
Jack James, head of neighbourhood services (repairs and technical), said: "The meetings are very well attended by the public, and the feedback we have received so far has already had a direct impact on priorities.
"By giving our customers a forum in which they can voice their opinions on what we are doing right or what we need to do better, we are putting them right at the heart of our decision-making process."
As a result of comments made at the meetings, EDH has already agreed to reinvest £450,000 in installing new doors and windows in council properties.
The next meeting of the panel will take place at the Glebe Centre, Murton, from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Thursday.
