JUNIOR jazz bands from the region enjoyed a summer carnival on Saturday.
Six groups competed in a battle of the bands contest at Hackworth Park, Shildon, County Durham, organised by the Northern Citrines Junior Jazz Band, based in the town.
They were joined by the New Brancepath Revellers, the Blackhall Sovereignaires, the Shotton Legionaires, and Peterlee Zodiacs from County Durham, and the Thorntree Goldenaires, from Stockton.
The Thorntree Goldenaires were crowned winners.
The event raised £915, which will help the Northern Citrines compete in the junior jazz bands world championship, in Liverpool, in August.
Group treasurer Scott Wheatley, from Shildon, said: “The carnival went really well, and raised a lot of money for us.
“We are working really hard in preparation for the championship, and want to finish in the top three.”
