DETECTIVES are investigating an assault on a 14-year-old girl, who suffered a facial injury as she walked in a public park.
The alleged incident took place on Hob Moor, in York, at about 10pm, on Saturday.
The victim was walking alone close to the exit onto Hob Moor Drive, when she was assaulted by an unknown man, who was riding a bicycle.
She suffered a facial injury, which later required treatment at York District Hospital.
She was also left in a state of shock following the ordeal.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said there was no apparent motive for this assault.
The victim was wearing a green stripy top, black cardigan, black three-quarter length leggings and a grey coloured skirt and white trainers.
The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 6in and aged in his mid 20s.
He has broad shoulders and light coloured short hair.
Following the assault, the suspect was seen riding off towards Hob Moor.
