IT’S REUNION time at Guisborough today as Colin Murray returns to the club where his three siblings play to form a fearsome family foursome – and if the Murrays are in mint condition it spells bad news for their opponents.
With Chris having just returned to the side after working in London, and Ryan now recovered from injury, Colin, along with Graham, will complete the full set after his transfer from Great Ayton.
But new father Richard Dunn returns to a very powerful line up to take on Northallerton at Fountains Garth this afternoon. Town themselves have some players returning with Ian Gill, farm permitting, and Andrew Fishburn back.
Hartlepool came back to form with a bang when they were the only team to record a double over the bank holiday weekend. With five wins in the bag already they have more than any other team, and they are now just seven points behind Guisborough as they prepare to take on Normanby Hall at Park Drive.
Pools are able to select a full-strength side once more for a match that pitches the two most improved teams against each other. Kiwi Paul Wiseman has made a big difference to the Hall and he features once more, although Chris Trillo and Mel Sykes are on holiday so Johnny Vaughan steps up.
Marton will be missing the services of club chairman Gary Knight for about two months after the livewire fielder fractured his collar bone last Saturday. There is a doubt over the availability of Tom Chadwick because of exams, but other than that they will be unchanged for their trip to Feethams where the home side have Garry Moody back at the helm, although Peter Armstrong is attending a wedding.
Middlesbrough sank to their lowest position for a couple of years (fourth) after two draws last week, the gloom having to come to their rescue in the second game. But they hope to have new signing Tom Hodgson behind the stumps – the Durham Under 17 player having been signed from Richmondshire.
But there remains deep frustration in respect of overseas player Yasir Shah, with the club still uncertain as to when he could arrive. Boro are desperately trying to resolve the problems, with the player’s international duties compounding the already complex paperwork issues that have bedevilled most importing clubs this season.
Meanwhile, they continue their campaign at home to a Blackhall side who will again be missing the talents of Neil Killeen who is needed by Durham.
For Thornaby and Billingham the stakes could not be higher as the bottom two go head to head at Mandale Bottoms.
The home side, buoyed by picking up their second victory last week, remain ever hopeful that Khurram Shehzad will make his long awaited debut. As ever it will be wait and see, but his arrival would be extremely timely with key batsman Neil Coverdale unavailable.
Billingham spent around six months ploughing through the paperwork to get Sri Lankan Nisal Randika into the country in time for last weekend’s matches. But no sooner had he arrived than he left – although Synners supporters shouldn’t panic as he should still be turning out for the big game. Randika flew back to Sri Lanka on Tuesday, was married on Wednesday and flew back yesterday. As well as the newly wed, Danny Nowell also returns.
Richmondshire welcome back Michael Cunnachie, while opponents Marske bring in Colin Haslett and Karl Bramwell. Great Ayton play a full strength Bishop Auckland.
