A GIRLS football team is preparing to defend their title this weekend.
Lumley Wildcats under tens will return to the Fylde coast in the North-West to defend the Blackpool 2008 under 10 plate.
Over 400 teams take part and it is established as one of the largest youth football tournaments in the country.
Team spokesman Lisa Gerrett said: "Last year the Wildcats travelled to Blackpool to take part in the ever popular tournament and have fun together at the pleasure beach, they didn’t in their wildest dreams think they’d return home triumphant "Since their surprise achievement the team have gone from strength to strength and trained hard under the watchful eye of coach and club secretary of Lumley Ladies, David Taylor.
"The wildcats are a great hardworking bunch of girls and this year they hope to blow Blackpool away both on and of the pitch."
