County Councillor, Becky Brunskill and local teacher, Janet Slootweg, have been out ‘Wombling’ in Willington. They want to encourage others in the community to join them and make Willington a green and pleasant place to live.
Willington Town Council is supporting the group and Keep Britain Tidy’s campaign the BIG tidy up.
A PICK IN THE PARK is being organised for SUNDAY 31st May at 11 am, meeting at the Cenotaph in Low Willington. Volunteers will show they care about the place where they live by spending an hour cleaning up the Award-winning Jubilee Meadows park, which is a fantastic resource for local people, but like everywhere else is spoilt by litter and mess.
Janet Slootweg says that although Councils are responsible for keeping our communities clean and attractive, “we should do our bit to make the most of what we’ve got”.
Interested residents can get further information from Willington Resource Centre.
