THE jury in the Simon Everitt murder trial was sent home without reaching a verdict after 11 hours of deliberation tonight.
Their deliberations resumed today after the court was closed for the Bank Holiday weekend. They are expected to recommence tomorrow morning.
Norwich Crown Court has heard how the 17-year-old engineering student, originally from Escomb, near Bishop Auckland, County Dounty, was beaten, tied to a tree, doused in petrol and set on fire.
His body was found in a swamp near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, in June last year.
Prosecutors claim the incident happened because he had been in a relationship with the same girl as the two male defendants.
Jonathan Clarke, 19, from Telford, Jimi-Lee Stewart, 25, of Nelson Road Central, Yarmouth, and Maria Chandler, 40, of Lancaster Road, Yarmouth, all deny murder.
