POLICE have renewed their appeal for information after a shop worker was carjacked and robbed of £10,000 in takings.
Investigations are continuing into the robbery in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, at 10am yesterday morning.
Tonight Detective Inspector Billy Hugill urged anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch with the police.
"We have been carrying out extensive house to house enquiries in and around that area and we are grateful for the help we have had so far but if there is anyone we have missed then please do come forward," he said.
The victim, who worked for McColl's in Oakfield, Newton Aycliffe, drove away from convenience store at about 10am yesterday.
When he stopped his dark Renault Laguna at the junction of Oakfield and Pease Way, a man got into the car. He had something in a bag and suggested that he was armed.
The shop worker was told to drive towards the town centre, then turn around and drive to the roundabout at the top of Pease Way, then into Horndale Avenue, before turning right at the mini-roundabout and immediately left into Preston Road.
There, the suspect fled with a blue sports holdall containing about £10,000. He was in his 20s and was wearing a baseball cap. He escaped in a dark BMW or Lexus-type vehicle.
Anyone who was in the area is asked to call 0345-60-60-365 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
