One of Yorkshire’s most historic families, the Lascelles, are the topic for the next meeting of the Northallerton & District Local History Society.
The Lascelles made their money in the seventeenth century, in the sugar plantations of the West Indies, before becoming hereditary Earls of Harewood and marrying into the British royal family.
The Society has been researching the family’s early origins in Northallerton for the past year and their new findings will be presented publicly for the first time at the meeting on Tuesday, June 9.
The open talk will be held at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, on Thirsk Road, Northallerton at 7pm. Non-members are welcome to attend with an admission charge of £2, while students under 18 can enter for free.
