POLICE are still investigating a 10-year-old girl's claim that she was approached by a man who tried to abduct her.
The girl was at the Barnard Castle annual Meet in County Durham on Bank Holiday Monday when she says a man grabbed her by the shoulder as she walked through the Hole-in-the-Wall car park between 3pm and 3.25pm.
The girl says she escaped and saw the man run back towards a black convertible car with blacked-out windows.
He was wearing a black Adidas track suit with the hood pulled up, a black baseball cap and dark gloves and was aged 19 to 20.
He was 6ft and had scars on his face.
Another middle-aged was said to be waiting in the car. He was wearing a blue shirt and white gloves.
Officers interviewed the girl, who is from Cleveland, again yesterday and are keen to speak to any witnesses as well as two women that found the girl immediately after the incident.
"We are still investigating the veracity of the girl's claim and will continue to look into the alleged incident," said Sergeant Chris Knox, from Barnard Castle police.
"We would like to speak to anyone who has a black convertible who may have been in the area at the time and may have spoken to the young girl so we can eliminate them from our inquiries."
Anyone with any information should call Barnard Castle police on 0345-60-60-365 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
